How We Gather Community Voices
Every story on this site begins with a real conversation. We record oral history interviews around kitchen tables, scan donated photos and documents, and write down memories that neighbors share at local events.

The Voices of Keenesburg project is led by the Keenesburg Historic Preservation Commission in close partnership with longtime residents, families, and town historians. Together, we decide what to preserve so that future generations can understand where they come from.
Why Preserving Stories Matters
Small-town history can disappear quietly when stories are not written down or passed along. By saving voices, photos, and memories, we create a place where families can trace their roots and students can see how history lives right here at home.

These stories also honor the people who built Keenesburg — farmers, teachers, business owners, volunteers, and neighbors — whose everyday choices shaped our town.

When we listen and remember together, we strengthen our sense of belonging and leave a richer record for generations yet to come.
Join the Effort to Preserve Keenesburg’s Story
Everyone has a piece of Keenesburg’s story to share. Whether you grew up here, moved here recently, or your family has roots in the area, your memories matter.

You can help by recording an interview, contributing photos or documents, volunteering at events, or suggesting someone we should talk to.
